Another awesome session to share, this time with the wonderful Towner family. What made this portrait shoot particularly unique, was the layering of celebration. First and foremost, we set out to capture some professional, yet playful, pictures of Dylan, soon to be five, and eight month old baby Max. On top of that, parents Renata and Kevin scheduled this session to fall on the day of their sixth wedding anniversary. When Renata originally proposed this idea, I just loved it, and was honored. What a fun and creative way to spend your anniversary and celebrate your growth as a couple into a family. And just when I thought the session couldn't be any more charmed, Kevin arranged for me to frame a few select images as a surprise Mother's Day gift for the following weekend.

Our first stop was Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach, a great place to hang out, relax, and escape the big city for some green. Dylan took an energetic lead on posing, helping his little brother get into the act. It's always fun to see just how excited and curious kids get about picture taking. Posing for formal pictures isn't high on any tot's list, so you best be quick, snap the shots while you can, and then let the little ones blast off into true kid mode: running, jumping, playing, and sure, even crying. Often, I think these crazy moments make the best shots!
Our session concluded with a visit to the beach, a time to frolic in the sand and reflect on the surf. At one point, Renata and Kevin stepped aside for a picture of their own, and I'm so glad they found a quiet pause amongst all the energy for themselves. The moment made for a couple of my most favorite pictures of the day.

A couple weeks ago, I made mention of a portrait shoot that took place over the course of two weekends -- the first, outdoors at Redondo Pier and Manhattan Beach; the second, indoors at a studio in Downtown Los Angeles. We took lots of pictures, covered plenty of ground, and I retreated back to the studio for a couple weeks to pick out and polish up just the right ones. It was a really imaginative pair of sessions, with lots of forethought and collaboration between myself and Coco, a truly enthusiastic and go-getter client.
If you remember, Coco's initial intention was to reserve the images for her eyes only. But, after seeing her portfolio of pictures for the first time this weekend, and being thrilled with the results, Coco decided it'd be cool to share a few of the images here on the website with the rest of us. A pretty cool endorsement, don't ya think? These samples represent only a fraction of the images we came away with from the sessions, and I think it's just great we are now able to put a few of these out there for others to see.
Coco, thanks again for all of your energy, trust, and raves. You're a wonderful client, and a great person at heart.

In between polishing up images from recent sessions, I've been working on a fun upgrade to my website -- the shopping cart. Reviewing images and ordering prints is now a breeze thanks to some brand spanking new client proofing. No more writing down image numbers and emailing me off a list of print requests. Instead, clients will be able to complete their entire order online. The new interface allows for reviewing images at different sizes, comparing photographs side by side, saving favorites, and placing orders. Shoppers will also be able to save their selects and resume their session at a later time to complete their order. The new shopping cart can be accessed by clicking on "client proofing" on my website, or right here on the blog.
Of course, nobody likes a wobbly cart, so I'm still fine tuning the wheels to make for a smooth ride, but all recent sessions will soon be loaded into the cart for client review. Each gallery will be locked and password protected, so please be sure to email me for a password if you have not received one after your session delivers.
